Did some sketching after looking at a bunch of Matsumoto drawings on the internet. These aren't direct copies but are heavily influenced from his style, poses, colors, or whatever.
I'm still messing around with doing things fully digital -trying different techniques. I dont really like how the space station looks in the bg.
The best thing here is the custom brush I made for the smoke coming coming out of the jet pack.
Finally finished the 140th page of pencils for the captive project today. clap clap clap. Kind of a cool moment - it's the most pages i've ever done on a single project. I've been working on this for the last 2+ years and finally finished. There is still more work to do before this book is finished but I am taking a moment to try appreciate this little milestone.
Tried another digital painting tonight. mainly focusing on trying to get a decent background quickly. Experimented with using photos/textures and layer masks to build up the hallway walls and floor.
Trying to teach myself Manga Pro and really like some of the features. I like the Maru pen a lot and the perspective tools are pretty neat. Balloons seem a lot easier than photoshop too....I'd like to use a digital tool like this moving forward. it seems like a great time saver over doing pencils and inks in separate steps. plus I think my electronic "ink" lines look way better (on the screen) then my liquid ink work...Lots of fun.
