Eisner nomination!

Trickster got nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Anthology! Im a little stunned by this. Thanks to Greg Rodgers for letting me draw his story and big propos to Matt Dembicki for pulling this together and working really hard on promotion. Awesome job everyone.

Bug Bomb 3

More inks. brush and g-pen for the most part. The other day I decided to chuck the nibs but I just don't like the ink in my current set of markers/pens. So whatever. Im not setting any rules on what tool I use.

Bug Bombs 2

Spent most of the day working on the inks and washes for page 2. Pretty happy with this page. Especially the motion effect on Frankie's arm as he swings at jackie; the shot gun picture and the panel with all 5 Warlords with their hands up.

Page 1 - - Bug Bomb - - more inks

Got into a groove doing inks tonight. I liked everything but ran into an issue doing "speed lines" in panel 2. eeesh. buckets of white out needed....revisit that tomorrow with a fresh head.
added the black gutters in photoshop

and here's the same page as a double pager. just messing around.

I also had an epiphany about inking. and that's that I need to get a good technical pen and shit box trying to use dips and brushes for little details.

adding some speed

Kevin encouraged me to add some more movement into the drawings today. It's something I admire in a lot of comic art but don't really do it in my own work. So I figured I'd give it a shot.

Detail of the big kick:

I like this so far - maybe a bit too subtle. I'll be pushing this a little more as I go along.

sailors and such

some sketches sailors. I may be working on a new story with Matt Dembicki set in the early 19th Century. This is a first sketch to get a feel for the fashion of the time.
