I saw some art today by Super Wrestle's Andy Kettler which knocked me out and into rocking this page a little bit more. So here it is again all beefed up. I think the experiments on the catwalk solidified the composition a lot.

Here's the last page. Pencils are basically done. Now I need to put some inks down....getting close and running out of time! Can I ink 9 pages in one week?? one step at a time.

Made some good progress on page 8 tonight although Im not thrilled with this page so far. I was in Kelley's Island OH, over the weekend and haven't picked up my pencil since Thursday so I'm a bit rusty. Tomorrow should be better.

Another penciled page... I think that makes 4 in less than a week! [patting myself on the back]. This one is mostly done. but there are some things i need to address now that I sit back and look at it. mainly nate's hair is a little wacked out in panel 2. some other stuff too. time for sleepy.

Kevin sent me the script this morning and we are off! Pretty good for one nights work I must say. Not quite finished...but reasonably close to pencilling this whole thing in one night. started at around 8:30 while my kids were watching a movie. read them a chapter of Harry Potter and came back to draw. About 3.5 hours.

Monster Fights at SPX

Big day. Talked to Kev about trying to finish this chapter in time for SPX at the end of September. He is talking about sharing a table with Charles Soule! Coolness. Anyway that all means I would need to ink and color these 4 pages and do the full monte on 4 more *ahem* yet to be written pages. all in under 4 weeks. Scary thought for me considering my normal page rate is a page per week for pencils, a couple days to ink and another week to color! Well nothing like a challenge I guess. It's a good opportunity to push myself and see where it takes me. I should be updating this with new art a lot more regularly as I attempt the tiny but close to impossible (for me) task of finishing this chapter in 3 weeks. Wish me luck!

Anyway..progress made: I finished the pencils on page 4 and am pretty durn happy with the results. Take a look.

Busy as shit with work but I made myself draw tonight and I'm really glad I did. Here's the layout for the next page of Monster Fights. The action sequences are so much fun to draw! This page is great I think. 9 panels, one of my loosest layouts ever and a bucking scorpion! Hopefully I can squeeze some drawing in tomorrow and get the pencils done.

Needed to move Nate's hands to the front of his body for the action on the next page. So a redo was done tonight. also cleaned up some of the figures, backgrounds and made the figures in panel 8 a little larger to match up with the others.

monster fights ch 2

Still scanning in some work I've done the past coupe weeks. Here is the first page of "monster fights" chapter 2. Kevin is still finishing the script but it looks like this chapter is all action. and should be tons of fun to draw. Here are the initial pencils for page 1.

scanner works again

Ugh. finally got my pc to recognize my scanner after three weeks. Computer trouble really sucks. I was crashing every month or two so I decided to give windows 7 a try to see if it would be more stable for me. nope. some cool features but it wouldn't let me install photoshop CS4 and then my old scanner just totally stopped working. so I spent another week putting XP back on. gak. Now I got everything up and running. it's been so long dealing with this it seems like i've been walking around with a rock in my shoe all this time. Anyway, finally I am back and can scan and post some work.

I'm between scripts on superwrestle and haven't done much but I do have some little things to scan and post.

Page 14 inks

I got the inks done on page 14 last night but the scan came out a bit funky. I think it's a solid page and I did pencils and inks in one week. Ok that isn't exactly fast but it is faster than I have been working. My goal is to finish the colors before Friday.

scanned in the board in 6 pieces and pieced it together and it looks ok. I was worried that the inside edges would look bad. anyway, more tomorrow.

Made some decent progress on page 14. Solid layout. Made a first pass at the composition and started adding details. Unfortunately I had ran out of bristol board so I dug out some super-thick illustration board Bruce and I were experimenting with a few years ago. It's 20x14, has a smooth hard surface and it's great to pencil on. I imagine it will be even better to ink on however it is about 1/8th on an inch thick! So Now that I have made some decent progress I am worried about scanning this beast in. Here it is on my drawing board.

missing time, weddings and crashed computers

Missed a couple days at the end of last week trying to get some stuff done for my sister-in-law's wedding in South Carolina last weekend. Now I'm back. Fixed my computer (again) and am ready to get back to work. hopefully I can get a page colored by monday.

I am already a few days behind on that but this was a good page for shaking the rust off. Let me know what you think.
